Looking back I have used this in various ways throughout my life. Gain a little here and there to hopefully create a bigger outcome. One of the books I read early on in my husband’s diagnosis brought this home to me. It was written by a physician with a brain tumor who went through traditional treatment as well as added in many supplements, foods, and other pharmaceuticals not traditionally used for brain cancer. Ben Williams, PhD. wrote about his non-conventional treatment and how he went outside the US to obtain a chemotherapy drug widely used for breast cancer in Surviving “Terminal” Cancer (2002). His hope was to gain a tiny bit of positive effect from each treatment which would create an overall large, positive change. For him, it did. This is the principle I adopted, on a smaller scale, when looking at my husband’s treatment strategy. We were absolutely going to take advantage of modern medicine and utilize the gold standard of treatment, but we were going to combined it with supplements, wellness practices and food to hopefully support and enhance modern medicine.
